We hebben veel betaald voor 3 nachten in deze B&B. De kamer was heel klein. Voor 1 nacht kan dat prima, maar voor 3 nachten is dat minder prettig. Helemaal omdat er nauwelijks ruimte was voor het opbergen van bagage. Het bed was hoog, heel smal met wegzakkende randen en veel te zacht. We hebben erg slecht geslapen daardoor. De badkamer was op de gang, op zich kan dat. Maar deze kon niet op slot, niet prettig met andere mensen bij je in de buurt. De geleverde badjas en handdoeken waren knetterhard. Het ontbijt voor 10£ pp per dag, was flink aangebrand, dat kun je echt niet serveren. De verse jus en appelsap kwamen uit een pak. De eigenaar waren vriendelijk en het zag er op zich verzorgd uit. Maar we hebben beter geslapen in een hostel op Lewis voor een kwart van de prijs. Veel te duur voor wat je krijgt bij deze B&B. Wij hebben uit noodzaak een andere plek moeten regelen. Jammer van ons geld, we hopen dat we nog wat terug krijgen.

Alles perfekt! Sehr herzliche Gastgeber, Lynda und scott kümmern sich beim Frühstück um das leibliche Wohl, mit krossem rückenspeck, black Pudding, porridge und pancakes kommt man gut über den Tag. Perfekt gelegen zu Ben nevis, Glen nevis, Glen coe und three Sisters. Absolut empfehlenswert. Vielen Dank!

Disappointing Stay at Mayfield B&B with Unclear Communication and Potential Bias My recent stay at Mayfield B&B did not live up to the positive reviews I had read. While the location was convenient, there were several issues that detracted from the experience. * Unwelcoming Host: Upon arrival, the hostess, Lynda, showed a lack of hospitality. She did not introduce herself initially and mentioned the breakfast surcharge in an offhand manner, which contradicted our booking that included breakfast. * Breakfast Confusion: The breakfast, which we were initially told wasn't included, was eventually confirmed to be available for an additional £20. (£40 for the stay) This lack of clarity and the additional charge were frustrating, especially considering it's a bed and breakfast. * Communication Issues: Overall, communication with the hosts seemed unclear and disjointed. * Uncertain Welcome: Lynda's initial demeanor and the breakfast confusion left us feeling unwelcome. While I can't be certain, it made us wonder if this was due to our Hispanic background and not fitting the stereotype of a typical white American guest. This is especially concerning considering the hospitality industry's focus on inclusivity. * Lack of Common Area: Additionally, the B&B did not appear to have a common area for guests to relax and socialize, which is a common amenity in most B&Bs. * Fridge Incident: We planned a full day of trekking and purchased fruits and yogurts. We asked Lynda if we could store them in their refrigerator, and she directed us to a small cooler box in our room. We opted not to use it due to its temperature. Later, I hesitantly asked Scott if we could use their refrigerator, and he hesitantly agreed. However, we later found our food outside our door. While I cannot confirm their intentions, this incident along with the previous interactions left us feeling increasingly unwelcome. * Recommendation: We would strongly advise against staying at Mayfield B&B. If you are a minority traveler considering this location, we recommend reaching out to other establishments in the area to ensure a welcoming and inclusive stay. The town has a variety of other accommodation options, so finding a place that meets your needs shouldn't be difficult. Disappointed Guests: We were particularly disappointed because we are experienced travelers who have never encountered this type of treatment. As paying guests and fellow human beings, we believe basic courtesy should be extended to all.
